Several Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD students earned their dream pair of shoes this summer with a little hard work and community service. These students spent their break participating in Make it Count’s summer enrichment program.
‘Bea’s Kids’ has evolved its mission from feeding hungry children to helping kids express themselves.
How a loaf of bread, a jar of peanut butter, and a fierce commitment to helping poor kids stay in school turned one Carrollton woman’s life around—and what Texas can learn from her example.
Located near the entrance from the student parking lot, the mural speaks to the legacy of R. L. Turner and the culture in and around the campus. The project was a collaborative effort between artist Andre Trenier, students and faculty at Turner, Make it Count and Thrive Collective.
The Carrollton-Farmers Branch Rotary Club has long supported the work of Bea's Kids, a local non-profit whose mission is "to provide educational and personal development programs to children from low income families so they will stay in school and break the cycle of poverty."
This month, Ighty Support has donated to Bea’s Kids to help fund Bea’s summer camp and future programs.
Summer camp is going great! You can get involved by contributing a meal or sponsoring a field trip. Also, encouraging high school volunteers to get involved in exchange for Community hours.
